Gordon's Bay
Gordons Bay is a small, picturesque seaside village in
the corner of False Bay nestled between the aqua blue
ocean of False Bay and the stunning Helderberg &
Hottentots Holland Mountains. Only 40 minutes from
Cape Town it is the gateway to the scenic Garden Route.
30 min. from Cape Town International airport and 45 min.
from the famous V & A Waterfront, Stellenbosch and the
Winelands are only a 20 min. drive.


Gordons Bay itself is reminiscent of the French Riviera
with its Mediterranean flavour and is known to locals as
“little Monaco” due to its beautiful coves, expensive
mansions and luxury apartment houses that nestle high
up on the slopes. There is a wide choice of excellent

everyday needs, along with varied water sport activities.
Sun worshippers flock to the famous Gordon's Bay
beaches - where both Main and Bikini Beaches offer soft
white sand for sun-tanning and safe bathing.
Watersports
Gordon’s Bay is the perfect destination  for watersport lovers.  
Jet-skiing, scuba diving,  waterskiing, paddle skiing, yachting,
rubber ducking, speed boating.


Paragliding
The look out point at the top of Sir Lowry’s Pass is a favourite
launching spot for paragliders.


Abseiling and Cliff Jumping
Kamikaze Gorge at the mouth of the Steenbras River provides
all the excitement any adrenalin junkie could wish for.  Guided
tours can be arranged.

Coastal Drive
The coastal road from Gordon’s Bay to Rooi Els and Betty’s
Bay, is a spectacular route with steep cliffs and lovely coves.  
Locals refer to it as the Helderberg’s own “Chapman’s Peak”
and the route offers amazing views over False Bay, right up to
Table Mountain and Cape Point

Wine
The famous wine routes of Helderberg, Stellenbosch,
Franschhoek and Paarl are all picturesque trips, and within
easy reach. Sample a wine tasting at a choice of world class
vineyards  and wine estates and buy a bottle or two to take
home to sip on your balcony or patio whilst enjoying the sunset.


Whales
Between June and December each year, hundreds of Southern
Right whales visit the sheltered, shallow bays of the South
African coastline to calve and nurture their offspring. Official
viewing points have been established - just look for the Whale
Route signposts on Clarence Drive, the coastal road leading
south from Gordon's Bay. If you follow the Beach Road through
Gordon's Bay past the harbour, you get on to one of the most
beautiful coastal drives in the world. The R44 towards
Kleinmond and Hermanus winds along a breathtakingly steep
coastline. Whales can often be watched here during the season.


Golf
Numerous Golf courses are also on your doorstep including
Erinvale and Arrabella.


Fishing & Boating
Gordon's Bay offers wonderful fishing opportunities from the
rocks and the old harbour wall  and pleasure trips on luxury
yachts and cruisers are also available from the two harbours.
Walk along the harbour wall at The Old Harbour in the heart of
Gordon’s Bay and enjoy the boats and yachts as they sail in to
moor at the protected small craft marina of Gordon's Bay Yacht

This is an exciting entertainment area with many restaurants,
pubs, entertainment and accommodation facilities available.

Waterfront which has moorings for small craft and a slipway for
launching boats.


Climate
Gordon’s Bay area enjoys a mild Mediterranean type of climate.
Summer is dry and hot, with cooling sea breezes. February to
April is early autumn with mild balmy days and warm evenings,
an ideal time for visitors wishing to explore the Western Cape
region.   Daytime temperatures May – October often reach the
low to mid twenties and although the Cape has winter rainfall
there are many glorious sunny days to be enjoyed.
